About

I am an interactive designer/developer living in the Detroit area and have been working in digital since 1996.  I am a self-starter, I bought my first computer (a Mac IICi that I still have as a doorstop) and taught myself Photoshop and never looked back. I was hired at my first Web-Company mainly on my illustration skills, and taught myself HTML2/JavaScript 1.0 followed by a bit of Lingo, not much more than “go to frame x”.

I started getting serious programming Lingo when a Director 5 project was in danger of missing its deadline because a vender over promised and failed to deliver. A very long weekend followed, with enough getting done to get past the first review and I was off! I became addicted to making things happen in code, especially those things that I was told could not be done. When Flash came along I didn’t get serious with it until Flash 5, when ActionScript was introduced. Since then I have progressed as Flash has, from doing everything with scripts scattered across the timeline to handling interaction in three frames (an init frame a run frame and a loop frame) to everything in external classes to working with OOP and learning Design Patterns.

I have an Apple developer ID and plan to learn Objective-C, though Lua through Corona looks very interesting too. I bought a Galaxy Tab 10.1 and have begun making Adobe AIR apps through Flash Builder, and having kept my Creative Suite up to date will soon try to export iOS apps to my sons iPad. I hope to have something to show on this site soon.

Until then, thanks for stopping by and reading my rambles!
